

Meet Dr. Hasan Murshed
Dr. Hasan Murshed is the editor of Fundamentals of Radiation Oncology: Physical, Biological, and Clinical Aspects, Fourth Edition (Elsevier/Academic Press). The book's fourth edition marks 20 years since the first edition's original publication.
Clinical Background
In 2012, Dr. Murshed founded Hope Regional Cancer Center in Panama City, Florida, where he serves as Medical Director.
Hope Regional Cancer Center has received accreditation and the gold seal of the American College of Radiology for the fourth consecutive term, with ACR again determining that the team and facility meet the rigorous standards required for this distinction. It is the only radiation cancer center of its kind in Bay County.
As a practicing radiation oncologist, he has two decades of experience treating over 10,000 patients. His areas of expertise include head and neck cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and IMRT radiation therapy technique.
Training
He earned his M.D. from Dhaka University in Bangladesh and a Master of Science in Clinical Medical Physics from Louisiana State University. Dr. Murshed completed his PGY-II and PGY-III residency in the Radiation Oncology Department at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and served as Chief Resident during his PGY-V year in Radiation Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, completing his residency in 2002.
Dr. Murshed furthered his expertise with an IMRT/Gating Fellowship in Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center from 2002 to 2003, specializing in Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).
He is dual board-certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Therapy Physics and in Radiation Oncology. He is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
Recognition
Dr. Murshed was named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. in 2018 — the only radiation oncologist in Bay County and the surrounding areas to receive this distinction.
Authorship & Advocacy
Dr. Murshed has authored numerous publications and contributed chapters to several books on cancer and radiation oncology. Experienced in multidisciplinary clinical management and clinical research coordination, he is engaged in both the clinical and educational aspects of radiation oncology, as well as community activities supporting cancer patients.
